Gerda Laufenberg | “I paint ever since someone gave me a piece of crayon. I was five back then. Later, I learned some more at the Kölner Werkschulen, but it was not much. I wanted to be a sculptress and later noticed that I preferred drawing. This allowed me to be mercurial, following my own spontaneous fancies.
Critics claim that I remain mercurial, taking breath-taking turns, perhaps straying too much. But diversity trumps lop-sidedness. Life is full of surprises, as is painting. I find this to be just as exciting as necessary…”
Countless domestic and foreign solo and joint exhibitions since 1974, among others in Aachen, Bayreuth, Bonn, Brühl, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Mainz, Mannheim, Trier as well as in Angers and Lyon (FR), and Barcelona.
Gerda Laufenberg lives in Cologne, working as an independent painter, illustrator, and writer.
